Ambire Wallet 2024 Roadmap

It is time to look back at 2023 and announce what we have in store in the 2024 Ambire Wallet roadmap.

Time to share what we have in store for 2024!
Time to share what we have in store for 2024!

It’s nearly the end of the year, and the holidays are knocking on our door. But before we change to our PJs for indefinite periods and overdo it with boozy coffees (and whatever holiday traditions you may have), we wanted to share what lies ahead for Ambire Wallet in 2024. You wouldn’t want to miss the exciting roadmap we have prepared!

A quick overview of 2023

A lot happened in 2023, so it is only fair that we take a quick look back at the most important milestones before we move on to the 2024 Roadmap.

The first half of the year was mostly dedicated to the Ambire Wallet mobile app. We had previews as early as the end of February when we showcased what the app would look like at ETHDenver. Later on, in May, we released the app for Android & iOS for a closed beta, which supercharged the apps with amazing community feedback before the big debut to the general public. Then, at the end of June 2023, we officially launched the app on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store!

This was not all, though. We implemented ERC-4337 in the wallet to make sure it is compatible. We added a transaction simulation feature, and as a result, we achieved balance estimations to show what your final balance would be when you sign any pending transactions. We integrated further on- and off-ramp solutions to the wallet to ease the entry or exit from the crypto market. We attended multiple events, such as ETHDenver, Crypto Expo Europe in Bucharest, Romania, SpaghettETH in Naples, Italy, and ETHPrague in Prague, the Czech Republic. There, we showcased Ambire and handed out some awesome swag.

Most of our efforts in the second half of the year were focused on the upcoming Ambire Wallet browser extension! We also attended Binance Blockchain Week & Devconnect in Istanbul, where our Co-Founder & CEO, Ivo Georgiev, delivered multiple insightful talks on wallets and anything Account Abstraction.

The big reveal: Ambire Wallet 2024 Roadmap

We have plenty in store for 2024! The focus will, of course, be on the extension. Here’s what we have planned:

Browser extension launch

The wallet browser extension is coming soon! It will have much-anticipated features we have been working very hard on, and here are just some of the highlights. It will run on the new, improved Ambire smart contract (v2), and it will have native ERC-4337 support, which will be enabled by default (using Pimlico as the bundler solution). Users would be able to add any EVM network - and would be able to see all their assets in the dashboard, regardless of which network they’re on. Furthermore, it will have superior transaction simulation capabilities - which means you would basically be able to operate with funds you will have in the future (after a swap, e.g.). Users will be able to personalize their accounts, too, with profile pictures and ENS names. You can check more about those features in the last development update.

EOA support

You would be able to import Externally Owned Accounts (EOA) with their seed phrase or private key to the extension - this, in turn, will allow you to send transactions from them and sign messages. Additionally, you would be able to send smart account transactions, which can be broadcasted by an EOA account.

Hardware wallet support

We will add support for hardware wallets, too! The wallet browser extension will be compatible with Trezor, Ledger, and Lattice, so you can use any of these hardware wallets as signer keys for an added layer of security.

Account recovery

In 2023, our team won a grant from the Ethereum Foundation for the development of self-custodial email/password authentication via DKIM. It's an email-based recovery mechanism that is very secure and has DKIM signatures used by most modern email providers.

Email recovery with DKIM is being implemented in Ambire Wallet’s browser extension. That means the currently necessary time lock will be dropped, and users won’t need to wait 72 hours for account recovery. Most importantly, our users will be able to recover their Ambire accounts without sharing any sensitive information with us.

WalletDAO

The WalletDAO is a Decentralized Autonomous Organization governed and owned by the holders of the $WALLET token. It serves the purpose of allowing the token holders to govern Ambire Wallet development and integrations. You can read more about it on our website.
We plan a progressive roll-out of the $WALLET governance system within the wallet, starting with DAO member votes on which dApps to include in the wallet.

Continuous updates to the mobile app

Rest assured that we will not forget the Ambire Wallet mobile app for iOS and Android! We are planning to keep updating it throughout the year. This way, we can ensure that new features rolled out for the extension will eventually be available in the mobile apps.
