Ambire Wallet Development Update Q1 2025

Check out what we've been cooking in the Ambire Wallet kitchen in the first quarter of 2025. EIP-7702, UX improvements, and Denver are just some of the highlights.

Ambire Wallet development update Q1, 2025
Q1 of 2025 is over and it's time to look back at what happened.

It certainly has been an exciting start to 2025! While some projects referred to it as Q5 of 2024, we were right on track with our Ambire goals for the first quarter of 2025! Check out what we got up to:

It’s (almost) all about EIP-7702

Q2 will bring the much anticipated Pectra upgrade to the Ethereum protocol - so we’ve been busy preparing for it in Q1. Pectra brings smarter EOAs (ЕОАs with smart account capabilities) - and Ambire is ideally positioned for it, allowing users to manage both smart accounts, as well as EOAs within the same browser extension. To add to this, we now support smarter EOAs, too.

That’s right, the integration is done, smarter EOAs are LIVE on Ambire, and we’ve been testing it on all networks that already support EIP-7702 (e.g., Sepolia testnet, BNB Chain, Ithaca’s Odyssey Testnet, etc). Take advantage of transaction batching, limited approvals, being able to pay for gas in stablecoins and other ERC-20 tokens, etc., now:

UX improvements

At the beginning of 2025, we started conducting live user interviews with a variety of users - some were blockchain devs, some were educators, and others were true degens. Based on their feedback, we have been working hard on improving the UI of the extension - from simplifying the onboarding journey, to changes to our Swap window, etc. Here is what we learned:

Some of the improvements are already live. One of the major updates is that transaction batching is now available for all accounts, including EOAs. Also, the transaction signing modal had a facelift and looks much sleeker with a focus on what is important: the advanced transaction simulation, which shows you any balance changes before you sign the transaction (acting as a security feature, too):

But the live user interviews are not everything - we welcome feedback on the Ambire Wallet extension from all users! We appreciate our community’s involvement so much we even made it a quest in Ambire Legends, and we are rewarding users with 500 XP for it:

Biconomy integration

In January, we integrated Biconomy as the primary bundler for Optimism. They will also be used if there are no other bundlers available for the networks. This strategic partnership with Biconomy further strengthens our commitment to providing the best user experience possible by enhancing gas efficiency, broadcasting resilience, and more:

Extension updates now on socials

Recently, we started sharing what’s new in the latest extension updates every time a new version is released. We highlight the benefits of the updates for our users and guide them through the changes with examples, demo videos, etc:

Governance

Q1 saw two new WalletDAO governance proposals. In the first vote, the DAO members were tasked to decide on the Legends Rewards Distribution for the currently running season 0. It was decided that a total of 20 million $WALLET will be distributed to Season 0 participants, which amounts to 2% of the total supply and just over 10% of the total reward pool for extension awards:

Ambire Governance Vote: Legends Rewards Distribution
The time has come for another governance vote: this time to decide on the rewards distribution for Season 0 of Ambire Legends.

Later on, the community voted on extending the $WALLET staking rewards for a fourth year. A majority of 66.61% of voters opted to halve the current reward rate, while 33.39% voted to maintain the full rate. Notably, 0% of voters chose to end staking rewards, reaffirming the community’s strong commitment to staking and governance participation:

Ambire Governance Vote: Extend xWALLET Staking Rewards for a Year
The Ambire community is at a crossroads as it considers extending $xWALLET staking rewards for another year. This vital decision will impact governance participation and strengthen the ecosystem. Make your voice count—vote before the March 5, 2025 deadline!

Ambire at ETHDenver

The team traveled to Colorado, USA, in February for this year’s edition of ETHDenver. We co-hosted WalletCon (organized by the WalletConnect Foundation & Reown). We had a booth where we could showcase the best features of our browser extension, give out exclusive invite codes for early testers, and kit out visitors with limited-edition Ambire swag. We had an absolute blast meeting so many Ambire enthusiasts (old and new), potential partners, and old conference buddies:

Our own community & socials guru Aljaz (better known as Cinesius) delivered a captivating keynote on how EIP-7702 and smarter EOAs improve wallet UX (TL;DR they allow for transaction batching, gas abstraction, account recovery, session keys, and more):

After the strong start to the week with WalletCon, the rest of the week was a blur for the team— between the main ETHDenver event and hundreds of side events, including a live marketing roast! We are now gearing up for TOKEN2049 in Dubai at the end of April and are already planning ETHCC in Cannes in July 2025.

Ambire Legends

Using smart accounts has never been sweeter. With rewards already voted on by the community, Season 0 of Ambire Legends is in full swing. Users are earning XP for simply performing actions with their Ambire Wallet extension, and we are excited to share that smarter EOAs will also be rewarded in the upcoming season 1!

Check this out: more than 4 million XP have been earned by the Ambire users in Q1 - and rewards for season 0 are coming soon:

It’s not too late to join the fun and be rewarded for it if you don’t have the extension yet. Simply download it now and use the unique code becomelegendary for exclusive access to the early tester ranks:

Final words

After a strong start of 2025, we continue looking forward and building towards a better Web3. There are more UX and UI improvements to the extension already in the works, a redesign of Ambire Legends, more events - more of everything good!

Join us in our communities and social to stay up to date with the latest developments straight from the Ambire kitchen.
