Time for another development update for Ambire Wallet! Find out the latest happenings in and around your favorite Web3 smart wallet.

Ambire Wallet Q3 2023 Dev Update
The Q3 development update for 2024 is here!

We are well into Q3 of 2024, so it’s time to share the latest from the Ambire kitchen! We practice the saying “No rest for the wicked,” so we’ve been busy once again preparing an amazing browser extension, attending events, etc. Read on to find out all the gossip!

Full speed ahead for hybrid account abstraction

The Ambire Wallet browser extension will blow your mind, no doubt! It is now open for testing to the existing Ambire community, so go on, claim your code from the web version of the wallet, and then join the conversation on Telegram or Discord, where we gather valuable feedback from our users - and fix any bugs discovered!
We’re super hyped for the upcoming release of the Ambire extension with hybrid account abstraction - the only wallet to put EOAs and Smart Accounts on an “equal” level, without hierarchy or dependency between them. Furthermore, Ambire’s Smart Accounts already follow the simple, tried, and secure security model of EOAs and hardware wallets. Hybrid account abstraction is the future of Ethereum, which is why we expanded on it on the blog:

Ambire attends EthCC7 in Brussels

The team spent a hectic but epic week in Brussels for EthCC in July 2024. Apart from attending the main event, where we met many old and new AA frens, Ambire also participated in multiple side events, where we had wonderful speaking opportunities!

Ivo, Co-Founder, and CEO of Ambire Wallet, took the stage first during Multichain Day, a one-day summit focusing on cross-chain expansion and interoperability. He participated in a panel on Web3 Tools for a Multichain Future, along with representatives from other prominent Web3 projects such as Alchemy, GasHawk, and Zerion.

Later that same day, Ivo was on stage twice during ux/acc day. Firstly, he joined a panel on user-centric wallets together with Argent, Coinbase Wallet, Walletconnect, and Dynamic, but the highlight was his keynote presentation on how on-chain transaction simulations help Web3 wallets achieve Web3 user experience. Check out a short video on Ambire’s amazing simulations from his talk:

A few days later, Ivan, Head of Marketing at Ambire, participated in a panel discussion during a brunch for Web3 marketers organized by AdEx. Many important topics were touched upon, e.g., current trends in Web3 marketing, successful stunts, how to make meaningful announcements, etc:

You can find the full recap of EthCC7 on our blog - with a rare sighting of the entire attending team all in one photo!

Governance vote: Stop early user rewards for mobile and web wallets

The latest governance proposal was for strategically allocating resources to the extension launch campaign by temporarily stopping early user rewards for the web and mobile wallets. This was proposed to direct resources toward the extension, reserving rewards for its impactful launch and incentivizing users to migrate to the extension.

The vote passed, so on July 22nd, 2024, we stopped the early user rewards for the time being. These will resume in the browser extension once it has been officially launched. We are cooking something exciting for the launch, so stay tuned and grab your testing code!

P.S. Staking rewards are not affected and continue as usual.

Other news

There is always something new we are preparing! Check out what else is happening:

First community call

Join Ambire’s first community call, where we will chat about hybrid account abstraction, extension progress, launch campaign, WalletDAO, and governance. The call will take place on Friday, August 23rd, 2024, at 13:00 UTC in the Ambire Discord Server:

The first community call is happening on Ambire's Discord on August 23rd, 2024

EIP-7702 explained

Account abstractions EIPs can be confusing, and it's often difficult to see their actual benefits. Worry no more - we take the time to explain in simple terms what the EIPs mean and how they impact the future of account abstraction, particularly smart contract wallets. Most recently, we looked into EIP-7702, which proposes a new transaction type that allows EOAs to act like Smart Accounts. This means the EOA only has a Smart Account code during the transaction and becomes a regular EOA afterward.

Outposts whitelists extension users

All Ambire Wallet extension users are whitelisted on Outposts now; check out their announcement below. What is Outposts, you may ask? It is a service that sends you a personalized Web3 digest straight to your email twice a week based on your preferences.

Devcon prep is underway

Devcon7 SEA in Bangkok, Thailand (a.k.a. The Ethereum Event of the Year), is a mere three months away. We are already working full speed ahead to ensure we have the best swag, all the recommended vaccines, and amazing talks prepared well in advance. We will be announcing details about our participation at Devcon closer to the date—until then, join us in daydreaming about scrumptious pad thais and tuk-tuk adventures.

That’s all, folks

For now, only, don’t worry! The next development update will be here before you know it. Until then, we remain dedicated to shipping the best Web3 wallet extension and just being awesome in general.
