Ambire Wallet Development Update Q2 2025
The Ambire kitchen was very busy in Q2 of 2025. We cooked a major overhaul of the UX in the Ambire Extension, launched EIP-7702 on 9 chains, started Season 1 of Ambire Rewards, etc. Find out what else we got up to!

Another quarter in 2025 is done and dusted, bringing another set of updates on your favorite crypto wallet, Ambire! Check out the most important developments from Q2, summarized in this article.
Ambire Extension officially launched
The Ambire Wallet browser extension was available in a private beta for almost a year, requiring an invite code to sign up. We used this time to polish out the user experience, conduct market research, and take the time to listen to our users in live user interviews in order to ship a wallet that Ethereum ecosystem members actually want to use.
And while we are constantly working on adding new features, improving user flows, and eliminating friction points, we now allow anyone to use the Ambire Extension (don’t worry, we continue with the user interviews to improve the extension even further):
Shift to smarter accounts
May 2025 brought the much-anticipated Pectra Upgrade to the Ethereum Mainnet. It included EIP-7702, better known for unlocking smart account features to existing accounts (EOAs), something now widely known in the Ethereum community as smarter EOAs.
This is a major game changer as it allows existing accounts to batch multiple transactions into one, to take full advantage of gas abstraction, etc, all without having to migrate to a new address.
Ambire Wallet was working quietly in the background since Pectra was announced, and we were the first wallet to enable EIP-7702 on Mainnet, which went live on May 7th, 2025. We are continuously working on adding all networks as they adopt 7702, and the Ambire Extension is currently the only wallet where you can benefit from smarter EOAs on all supported networks (9 of these were integrated in Q2, and Polygon followed shortly after the beginning of Q3 before publishing this post). Smart account features, enabled by EIP-7702, are available on hot wallets (those imported by a seed phrase or a private key), and support for hardware wallets is coming soon.

On the 10 EIP-7702-ready networks, you can:
- Budle transactions
- Perform 1-click swaps and actions without needing to manage approvals
- Pay for gas in various tokens
- Enjoy gas-free transactions sponsored by Ambire on Gnosis and revoke approvals gas-free sponsored by RevokeCash
Ambire Extension UX improvements
We already mentioned live user interviews. Now let’s expand a bit on those - what they are, why we make them, etc. Live user interviews are when someone who’s often unfamiliar with Ambire jumps on a call with us, installs the extension, and has to perform some actions on it with no guidance from our team. Being able to witness first-hand the user journey allows us to analyze (and remove) friction points, improve the onboarding process, simplify the design, and introduce desirable (power) features. Thanks to feedback collected during the first phase of user interviews, we’ve improved the following features of the Ambire Extension:
- We redesigned the transaction signing window to include the transaction overview, as well as the transaction simulation (the outcome of the transaction once signed):

- Refreshed the onboarding and account adding flow. The Ambire Extension now supports multiple recovery phrases, as well as the following hardware wallets: Ledger, Trezor, and GridPlus:

Ambire Rewards overhaul
As the Ambire Wallet browser extension matures, we decided to rename Ambire Legends, our rewards system, to Ambire Rewards and give it a new look. This change better reflects that this reward system will be the main way the $WALLET token is distributed.
The new look and new name came right on time to celebrate the end of the pilot season, Season 0, and the beginning of Season 1. Remember to mint your NFT to start earning rewards!
Check out more info about the rebrand:

Governance
Two important votes took place in Q2 in terms of Governance. Firstly, the community decided on the rewards distribution system for Season 1 of Ambire Rewards:
🗳️ New governance vote opened for voting until 24.06.2025.
— ambire.eth (@AmbireWallet) June 10, 2025
For the first time you can cast both your $WALLET and $stkWALLET to decide reward distribution for Season 1 of Ambire Rewards.
Voting earns you XP in Rewards too.https://t.co/r6T3YXifDh
We saw a significant increase in voter participation and active discussions on Discord, and we couldn’t be more excited to have the Ambire community participate in the WalletDAO, and therefore, in decision-making!
Furthermore, following a previous vote, Q2 saw the migration from $xWALLET to $stkWALLET. $stkWALLET is a new staking token that offers a straightforward and dynamic rebasing model. This change aims to improve user experience and clarity in staking rewards. Check out the full announcement.
In conclusion
The second quarter of 2025 brought many improvements. As we enter Q3, we continue to schedule user interviews, work on bugs and UX updates, and look forward to what the rest of the year will bring for Ambire Wallet!
