Ethcc[9] Recap by Ambire
Check out our team's highlights from Ethcc[9] in Cannes

EthCC[9] was absolute cinema. Cannes in spring is beautiful and a lot less crowded, and the conference didn’t disappoint either. Thousands of crypto enthusiasts, hundreds of specially curated talks, side events in stunning villas - it had it all. Find out what our highlights were!

EthCC[9]: The team takes to the stage not once, but twice

Wasting no time, we started the week by opening EthCC[9] with a booth on Monday and Tuesday. As always, people were drawn to Ambire, and not only because we had the nicest swag out there.

Old friends stopped by to find out what the latest is in the Ambireverse (possible spoiler: MOBILE! A new mobile app is coming soon), to chat with the team about the recent Safe integration, and to grab some new toddler hodler fashion.

Plenty of new friends and future power users were made, too. Ambire’s brand is now widely recognized, mostly thanks to all the good work we have been doing, but also because the Ethereum Foundation is basing its prototype privacy wallet on Ambire itself. Many people came by asking for more information and left impressed with what the wallet can do!

Check out our gorgeous swag (even if we say so ourselves):

This year, we also had not one but two Ambire talks make it to the official EthCC[9] program. First, our marketing manager, Nadia spoke about how to do Web3 marketing without actually doing marketing, and you can watch the full talk here. Did you know you can use bug bounties for marketing, too?

Then, Kalo, tech lead for Ambire, looked at stories from the browser extension wallet frontlines when EIP-7702 (smart features for existing accounts) meets hardware wallets. He busted multiple EIP-7702 myths, e.g., 7702 drainers and the fact that many devs are still unaware that all of them come from leaked private keys anyway and are not a result of delegation itself, while others still don't understand why 7702 is the biggest UX upgrade for Ethereum for 2025. Find out for yourself by checking the recording of his talk here:

Ambire at WalletCon: Can we replace HW wallets with our mobiles?

Next on the agenda for the team was to support the Cannes edition of WalletCon. Organized by WalletConnect and Reown, the day saw a buzzing networking and partner area, as well as a number of panels and keynotes revolving around the future of payments and onchain finance.

We had a booth there to talk to the many wallet enthusiasts, and our CEO and Co-Founder, Ivo Georgiev, delivered a thought-provoking talk about whether hardware wallets can be replaced by our phones (spoiler: yes, they can). You can watch the full talk here, but tech lead Kalo kindly provided a TL;DR for those who are short on time:

The team also got to experience paying with crypto using a POS terminal. Using Walletconnect Pay, they were able to “buy” limited edition croissant swag and test out the user journey - in the highly fragmented world of crypto payments, it is nice to see there are solutions being developed that can work universally without the need to change everything all at once.

Absolute cinema in Cannes: will we win a Palme d’Or?

How do you stand out when there are hundreds of side events running alongside EthCC[9]? You do something different and offer a new POV to participants. Private high-end villas are cool, aperitivos are nice, but how much do you see of any given conference city you travel to? Aside from views from inside Ubers and a convention center or two, not much else, right?

This is why we decided to offer networking with a twist to conference goers. We ran 3 free Cannes walking tours throughout the week - 90 minutes spent in the sunshine exploring lesser-known yet spectacular sides to Cannes, and possibly the best way to meet new people in the industry and be able to have a conversation without the usual conference noise. What do you think, do we have a winner with the aftermovie:

See you again soon

We’re already mapping out events for the remainder of 2026. While we have no solid plans yet, we do know that our Head of Marketing, Ivan Manchev, will be speaking during ETHPrague in early May, and a few more events are on the map. See you soon!
