What is the WalletConnect Foundation Airdrop?
WalletConnect (now known as reown) is a widely used Web3 protocol that connects decentralized applications (dApps) to wallets, like Ambire’s v1 Web Wallet.
WalletConnect is launching the Connect Token (WCT), which powers the ecosystem. These tokens can be used for governance, staking, paying fees, and earning rewards across the WalletConnect network.
The airdrop is part of Season 1, and a snapshot of eligible activities has already been taken. Register and show your past involvement to secure WCT tokens.
Eligibility criteria for the WCT airdrop
Before jumping into the registration process, it’s important to understand the eligibility criteria. WalletConnect is rewarding its most active users and contributors with WCT tokens based on two categories:
User activity
WalletConnect will assess your past activity, including connections to dApps, on-chain signatures, and transaction history. If you’ve been using WalletConnect regularly via your Ambire Wallet, you could be eligible for a nice slice of the airdrop pie.
Contributor activity
For developers who have contributed to the WalletConnect Network (e.g., projects like CAIPs, Ethereum SDKs, and other blockchain tools), your contributions will also be considered. Connect your GitHub account after registration to maximize your eligibility.
Snapshot date and deadline
Only activity up to September 12, 2024, will be considered for this airdrop season. Future activity will count for upcoming seasons. You must complete the registration by October 18, 2024, so don’t delay!

Meeting some criteria doesn’t guarantee eligibility. You’ll need to surpass certain thresholds to qualify for the airdrop.
How to register for the WCT airdrop with your Ambire account(s)
Ready to hop in? Here’s how to register for the WalletConnect airdrop using your Ambire Web Wallet (v1). 👇
Connect your Ambire Wallet
Step 1. Head over to the official airdrop page.
Step 2. Once on the page, accept the Accept Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy, and click on “Register here.”
Step 3. When the WalletConnect modal appears, click “Connect now” and choose Ambire Wallet. If it’s not visible, click “All Wallets” and find the Ambire Wallet.
Step 4. Select Ambire Wallet and the “Webapp” option. WalletConnect will display a link; follow it by selecting “Open.” You will end up on Ambire Wallet's dashboard and should see a message saying you have successfully connected your wallet.
Step 5. Returning to the airdrop page, you should see a modal asking you to sign a message. Select “Sign.”
Step 6. You will be redirected to the web wallet again. To sign, enter your account password and OTP code if 2FA is enabled, and select “Sign.”
Step 7. ✅ Voila! You have registered! You can connect an email address to get notified of your eligibility status and future opportunities.
Build your profile
Once registered for the airdrop, you can build your profile by:
- Connecting additional wallet addresses to verify your activity on the WalletConnect network.
- Optionally, if you have contributed to WalletConnect Network and various open-source projects that positively impact the on-chain ecosystem, add your GitHub profile to boost your chances of qualifying for the airdrop.
Verifying eligibility and claiming tokens
After completing the registration, here’s what happens next:
Verification period: In November 2024, return to the airdrop page to check your eligibility status. If selected, you’ll be able to claim your tokens.
Claim your tokens: Once WalletConnect confirms your eligibility, claim your WCT tokens through the same airdrop page.
