Ambire Community Call #4 Recap: EIP-7702 Unpacked

Ethereum’s EIP-7702 is set to make Smart Accounts more accessible than ever, and Ambire Wallet is ready. In our latest community call, we explored how Smart EOAs will work, updates to Ambire Legends, and governance decisions shaping the rewards system.

Ambire community call #4 recap
Community call #4 unpacks the upcoming Pectra upgrade (EIP-7702) and Legends updates

For those who couldn’t make it, here’s a recap of Ambire’s latest Community Call, where the Ambire team gathered to discuss one of the biggest changes coming to Ethereum wallets—EIP-7702.

Hosted by our team members Aljaž, Ivo, and Ivan, the call covered what EIP-7702 means for users, how it improves Smart Account adoption, and why Ambire Wallet is already prepared for this shift.

The conversation also touched on Ambire Legends updates, including new opportunities for Smarter EOAs to participate, a governance vote on WALLET rewards distribution, and the roadmap for expanding the campaign.

If you missed it live, catch up on the discussion in the full recording below:

EIP-7702: The future of Smart Accounts

What is EIP-7702, and why is it important?

EIP-7702 is a proposed Ethereum upgrade that allows EOAs (Externally Owned Accounts) to temporarily function as Smart Accounts during transactions. This means users don’t need to create or migrate to a Smart Account—they can simply use Smart Account functionality when needed.

📌 Key changes with EIP-7702:

• EOAs can act like Smart Accounts for a single transaction without permanently changing their structure.
• Instead of creating a new Smart Account, users get account abstraction benefits on demand.
• No manual migration—users keep the same wallet address while unlocking Smart Account perks.

🚀 Why this matters:

• Bridges the gap between EOAs and Smart Accounts, reducing friction.
• Removes barriers to Smart Account adoption by making features accessible to any EOA user.
• No more fragmented experiences—users can combine both models without choosing one over the other.

This proposal drastically improves Ethereum’s account abstraction journey and will likely accelerate Smart Account adoption in ways previous EIPs haven’t.

How EIP-7702 improves user experience

EIP-7702 isn’t just a technical upgrade—it directly improves how users interact with Ethereum:

Transaction batching – Execute multiple actions in one transaction without signing multiple times.
Flexible gas payments – Use any supported token to pay gas instead of being locked to ETH.
Limited token approvals – Reduce security risks by approving only specific amounts instead of granting unlimited approvals.
Seamless onboarding – No need to switch account addresses; it works within existing EOAs.

How Ambire Wallet is already positioned for EIP-7702

Unlike most wallets, which will need extensive updates to integrate EIP-7702, Ambire Wallet won’t.

🔹 Hybrid аccount аbstraction – Ambire already allows Smart Accounts derived from EOAs, meaning its core infrastructure aligns perfectly with 7702.
🔹 No migration required – Users can seamlessly enable Smart Account behavior within their existing EOA wallets.
🔹 Advanced account abstraction features are already in place, including transaction batching and gas abstraction.

💡 Bottom line: Ambire already functions like a 7702-ready wallet, making it one of the first to fully embrace Ethereum’s evolving account model.

How to enable Smart EOAs in Ambire Wallet

When a user imports an existing EOA, they will see a toggle to enable Smart Account features. Activating this will require signing a transaction on each network where they want Smart Account functionalities. This step adds an extra layer of security, preventing automatic changes to the account across networks.

Once activated for an EOA, Smart Account features remain enabled as long as the user continues using Ambire Wallet or revokes them manually. However, if they switch to another wallet that also supports Smart Account functionalities, that wallet may overwrite the smart contract. In this case, if the user decides to return to Ambire, they will need to re-enable the Smart Account features.

Governance vote: Legends rewards distribution

A recent governance vote finalized the $WALLET rewards formula:

🧮 Character level × Square root of balance = Reward Weight

This formula is designed to reward real engagement while discouraging passive farming. As Ivo pointed out, the goal is to discourage lazy whales—users who simply park large balances and wait for the drop without actually engaging.

Ambire prioritizes actual usage rather than encouraging grinding or gaming the system. Those who actively interact with onchain features, complete quests, and use Smart Account functionalities will be better positioned to maximize their rewards.

Rewards eligibility criteria:

Minimum balance of 500 USD in the Ambire Wallet extension.
Character Level 3 or higher to qualify for rewards.
Must use an Ambire v2 account (Smart Account created in the extension).

Ambire Legends: Aligning with EIP-7702

Smart EOAs will be eligible for Ambire Legends

In the next Season of Legends, Smart EOAs (EOAs that enable Smart Account mode) will qualify for Ambire Legends, making the campaign more inclusive.

What changes?

✅ Participants using Smart EOAs will now earn XP in Legends.
✅ More users can join Legends without migrating funds.
Seamless onboarding for Ethereum-native accounts.

This makes Ambire Legends one of the first real-world applications of 7702, showcasing Smart Account benefits in a gamified environment.

Expanding Ambire Legends: New quests and deeper engagement

The current Season 0 of Ambire Legends focused on introducing players to Smart Accounts through onchain quests and gamified engagement. Now, the team is looking at ways to expand and refine the experience, adding new quest types, mechanics, and deeper integrations.

What’s coming next?

🔹 Interaction with new networks – Allowing participants to explore new networks
🔹Partner integrations – Future updates will introduce quests featuring partner dApps, allowing users to explore different protocols while earning XP.
🔹 Multiplayer mechanics – While still exploratory, Ivo hinted at multiplayer cards, which could enable cooperative or competitive challenges within Legends.

Closing thoughts: EIP-7702 and the future of Smart Accounts

🚀 EIP-7702 is a major breakthrough, making Smart Accounts the norm rather than an exception.
Ambire is already positioned for this transition, ensuring users experience 7702’s benefits seamlessly.
🎮 Legends is evolving alongside 7702, providing real incentives for early adopters.

Ambire is leading the way. Are you ready?
