Once you have registered your Publisher profile in the AdEx DApp, and you have created your channel(s), you can go ahead and add your slots — i.e. the ad property that you have available for sale. Here is how to do that.
Create an ad slot
Step 1: Click on the yellow button “New slot” on the left, or on the link that says “Add new unit to this campaign”.

Step 2: Fill in the name of your ad slot (mandatory) and its description (optional). Then click on “Continue”.

Step 3: Select the ad type (we currently only support HTML but more types are coming soon), the dimensions of the available ad slot, and the slot fallback URL.
A fallback URL is a link, to which the ad will be pointing when there is no active bid for it. If you don’t set one, the DApp will set it for you automatically. In this field, you can put a link to another media you own, an affiliate link that you have for a product or service, etc.

When you’re done, click on “Continue”.

Step 4: On the next screen, add an image to help you recognize the ad slot more easily (optional), then upload fallback ad creative. This is the ad that will be showing when you have no active bids for that slot. Keep in mind that the creative must have the same dimensions of the slot — 300x250 px, 728x90 px, etc.
When you’re done, click “Continue”.

Step 5: Preview your ad slot settings and if everything looks good, hit “Save”. If you need to make any changes, click on “Back”.

Your new ad property item will now appear in the “Slots” section of your account.

Assign an ad slot to a channel
Once you have created your slot(s), you can go ahead and link them to one of the advertising channels you have.
Step 6: Go to “Channels” and select the one where you want the ad slot to appear. Click on “View” to open the channel.

Step 7: Click on the yellow link that reads “Add new unit to this campaign”.

Step 8: Select the “Existing slot” tab.

Step 9: You will see all of the ad slots that you have available. Click on the little green plus-sign icon next to the slot you want to link to this channel.

That’s it. Your ad slot is now assigned to the channel.
NB: You can add the same slot to more than one channel.
Activate ad slot
There is just one more thing left before you can start accepting bids for that ad slot: put it on your website.
Step 10: Click on the “View” button for that particular ad slot.

Step 11: Copy the integration code, then paste it on your website. Where exactly you put the integration code will depend on your site.

Once the ad slot is properly integrated, you can start accepting bids for it.
