This is a step-by-step tutorial on creating an advertising campaign in the AdEx Network DApp.
“Campaign” definition
Before we begin this tutorial, it is important to explain what we mean by the term campaign.
If you’re used to a traditional ad platform, you may expect a campaign to be a group of ads or a cluster or ad groups, where targeting, timelines, bids, etc. are applicable for the entire campaign.
This is not the case with AdEx. In our DApp, a campaign is simply an organizational tool — you can add ad units to it, however the particular settings such as target groups, bidding and so on are set for each ad unit separately, and not for the campaign. The campaign itself will make it easier for you to keep track of your active ads.
Now that we have cleared this up, let’s see how to create campaigns.
How to create a new advertising campaign in the AdEx DApp
Step 1: Click on the blue button that says “New Campaign”.

Step 2: On the next screen, fill in the campaign name (mandatory), a campaign description and upload an image (optional). When you’re ready, click on “Continue”.

Step 3: On the next step, set the start and end dates of your campaign, then hit “Continue”.

Step 4: Preview your campaign and check if everything looks good. If you need to make any edits, use the “Back” button. If things look fine, just save it.

Your campaign is now created and you can go ahead and create ad units to add to it.
